The Bluegrass United Performing Arts Company (BUPAC) includes all the
music and drama programs of Bluegrass United. BUPAC is a separate program
operating under the Bluegrass United “umbrella” and is directly answerable to
the BU Leadership team. In addition, some BUPAC classes are affiliated with
Bluegrass United Electives and must also operate under the rules and
supervision of that program. The artistic directors and general managers of the
company are Veronica Walker and Betty Peterson.
Operating Vision and Philosophy of the BUPAC:
The goal of the Bluegrass United Performing Arts Company is excellence
in the performing arts. This excellence is measured by students reaching their
full potential.
BUPAC provides opportunities for students to learn the importance and
rewards of personal commitment, self-sacrifice and dedication to worthy goals.
While most students will not move on to careers in the performing arts, the
personal character that is developed in the process of putting together an
excellent production is a long-term benefit of participation in BUPAC. In
addition, the lasting memories of working with mentors and peers on a theater
production are to be treasured.
The Bluegrass United Performing Arts Company strongly endorses
homeschooling and believes homeschooled students are prepared for great
accomplishments in short periods of time. These accomplishments are due to the
independent and diligent nature of homeschool students who understand how to
adequately and fully prepare outside of rehearsals and the need to work hard
and cooperatively during rehearsals.
Expectations of Student Members of the BUPAC:
Members of the Bluegrass United Performing Arts Company participating in
classes hosted by BUAC Electives must abide by the rules and principles of BUAC
Electives and be “in good standing” at BUAC. In addition, students
participating in BUPAC must abide by the guidelines of the music and drama
company. These guidelines include, but are not limited to:
1) Outstanding class and rehearsal attendance
2) Punctual for classes and rehearsals
3) Focused and task-oriented during classes and rehearsals
4) Committed to memorization of music, dialogue and dance according to
memorization
schedules
5) Fulfilling all other rehearsal requirements
Parental Expectations of the BUPAC:

1) Funding for student costumes, scripts, performance cds, props, etc.
2) Ensuring students are able to meet the demands of the rehearsal
schedules
3) Assisting with props, sets, costuming and general administration of
